Working across photography, installation, video, and mixed media, Wu Chi-Tsung has become one of the leading figures in contemporary Taiwanese art. Born in Taipei in 1981 and educated at the Taipei National University of the Arts, he reinterprets the traditions of Chinese landscape painting through contemporary image-making processes. Cyano-Collage and
Wrinkled Texture series, Wu transforms everyday materials into evocative landscapes that explore the relationships between nature, perception, and representation. By merging historical visual languages with contemporary image-making techniques, his work creates a dialogue between past and present, East and West, and the natural and constructed worlds.
Wu has exhibited extensively throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, including at the Mori Art Museum, the Shanghai Biennale, the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art, and Künstlerhaus Bethanien. In 2017, he represented Taiwan at the Venice Biennale, and is widely recognized as one of the leading figures in contemporary Taiwanese art.
