Sasha Gordon is an American figurative painter acclaimed for her psychologically charged self-portraits, which often portray her nude body in surreal, unsettling scenarios. Through these works, Gordon confronts the fetishization of Asian women in Western culture while simultaneously celebrating the distinct beauty and complexity of her identity. Born in New York to a Korean mother and a Polish American Jewish father, she earned her BA from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2020. Gordon’s work has been widely exhibited, garnering critical acclaim for its emotional depth and cultural commentary. In 2024,
The New York Times named her among the artists "redefining portraits of the human body for a more inclusive age," and that same year, she became the youngest artist to join the prestigious David Zwirner Gallery.
Gordon’s work has been exhibited at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; the Jewish Museum, New York; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; the High Line, New York; Matthew Brown, Los Angeles; and Jeffrey Deitch, New York.
